Unli.ai Shared Disk Storage: Getting Started

What is Shared Disk?

Unli.ai's shared disk is a built-in, no-configuration-required object storage solution designed to help you quickly start working with documents in your workspace. It provides a convenient and cost-free way to store and manage files for your AI-powered projects.

Key Features

Storage Specifications

  • Provider: AWS S3 (US East 1 region)
  • File Limit: Maximum of 100 files per workspace
  • Storage Limit: Up to 5 MB per workspace
  • Cost: Completely free with your Unli.ai workspace

Ideal Use Cases

  • Proof of concept projects
  • Initial testing and prototyping
  • Small document collections
  • Quick document uploads
  • Learning and exploration

Limitations to Consider

While shared disk is excellent for getting started, it comes with some constraints:

  1. File Count Restriction

    • You can store a maximum of 100 files in your workspace or 5Mb (whichever comes first)
    • Once you reach this limit, you'll need to delete existing files
  2. File Size Constraints

    • Individual files are limited to 2 MB
    • Larger documents cannot be uploaded
  3. No Advanced Management Features

    • Basic storage without advanced organizational tools
    • Limited versioning and backup capabilities

Bring Your Own Storage (BYOS)

Important: BYOS is only available on paid plans.

If you need more advanced storage capabilities, you'll need to upgrade to a paid plan to:

  • Configure custom S3-compatible storage
  • Increase file count and size limits
  • Access advanced storage management features

Supported Storage Providers (Paid Plans)

  • Cloudflare R2
  • AWS S3
  • MinIO
  • Backblaze B2
  • Other S3-compatible storage providers

Best Practices for Shared Disk

  1. Regularly review and clean up your stored files
  2. Compress documents to maximize the 5 MB file limit
  3. Use shared disk for initial development and testing
  4. Plan for potential workspace upgrades as your project grows

Getting Started

Shared disk is automatically configured in your workspace. Simply:

  1. Navigate to the Datasources section
  2. Start uploading documents
  3. No additional setup required
